You've approved the design, paid the deposit, and your install date is on the calendar. Now what? Here's a complete walkthrough of what happens during a custom closet installation — from the day before through the final walkthrough — so there are no surprises.

Before Install Day

48 hours before

We'll send you a reminder with the install time and a short prep checklist. The main task: empty your closet completely. Everything needs to come out — clothes, shoes, bins, the existing shelf and rod (we'll remove those). Most homeowners temporarily stack everything on the bed or in another room.

The night before

Double-check that the closet space is clear and accessible. If there's furniture near the closet entrance, move it to give the crew a clear path. Lay out any clothes you'll need for the next day somewhere accessible — the closet will be a work zone.

Install Day: What to Expect

Arrival

Our crew arrives at the scheduled time with all materials pre-packaged for your specific project. Everything was ordered custom based on your approved 3D design — panels, shelves, drawers, hardware, all of it. No cutting on-site. No sawdust.

Floor protection

Before anything else, we lay down protective covering over your floors from the entry point to the closet. Your hallways and carpet are protected throughout the project.

Old system removal

The existing shelf and rod (and any brackets) come down first. Any minor wall repairs — nail holes, anchor holes — are addressed. The walls are prepped for the new system.

Installation

The new system goes up piece by piece, starting with the main structural panels and working outward. Panels are secured to wall studs for structural integrity. Shelves, rods, drawers, and accessories are installed and adjusted. Everything is leveled — even if your walls and floors aren't perfectly straight, the system is.

Timeline

Most reach-in closets take 2–4 hours. Standard walk-in closets take 4–6 hours. Large or multi-closet projects can take a full day. You don't need to be present the entire time, but someone over 18 should be home.

After Installation

Final walkthrough

When installation is complete, we walk through the finished closet with you. We test every drawer, check every shelf, and make sure everything matches your approved design. If anything needs adjustment — a shelf height, a rod position — we handle it on the spot.

Cleanup

All packaging, protective covering, and debris are cleaned up and removed. We don't leave anything behind. Our goal is for your space to be cleaner than when we arrived.

Start using it

Your closet is ready to use immediately. No curing time, no waiting period. Start putting your clothes back — and enjoy the fact that everything actually has a place now.

What Happens After

Two days after your install, you'll get an email with an easy way to leave a review if you're happy with the work. Thirty days later, a check-in to see how everything's holding up and a reminder about your lifetime structural warranty.

If anything ever needs attention — a shelf adjustment, a drawer that needs tuning — one call and we'll take care of it. That's what the warranty is for.
